PHOENIX (KSAZ) - When it comes to new home construction, there's a new trend. You can't forget about your beloved pets when making the move.

Many new homes are now being built with fido in mind.

Our furry friends are fast finding their place as family members and some home builders are giving new meaning to "being the dog in the house."

"Everyone loves to spoil their pets; that's why we've designed a luxurious in-home pet suite. It's a spa-like experience for our four legged friends," said Danielle Tocca.

Homeowners can dedicate up to 170 square feet for fido to lounge and play. A specially designed "paw first step" allows your pooch to east into bath time with all the extras.

"A puppy wash station with a hand held sprayer and a leash hook, a plus bed for nap time, and built in cabinetry to keep all the toys and treats for our furry family members organized," said Tocca.

How about a french door that opens to a side yard with a puppy run. The space comes equipped with its own washer and dryer.

"Baldwin Park," long considered one of the most pet-friendly neighborhoods in Orlando, Florida will have some competition for "barking rights."

Homebuilder Standard Pacific is debuting it's luxury pet-suite add-ons. The homes will range from 3,000 to 7,000 square feet and will open to the public in early 2015.

According to the American Pet Product Association 68% of all Americans own pets. And this year alone we're expected to spend close to 60 billion dollars on our four-legged furry family members. So it's no wonder that the custom home builders are getting in on the trend.
