BLUE ISLAND, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A four-vehicle crash on the Tri-State Tollway near south suburban Blue Island Wednesday night left two people injured and shut down the southbound lanes of the tollway into the early morning hours Thursday.

The crash, which involved a Toyota Camry, a Ford F-150 and two semis, happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 294 near Kedzie at 10:51 p.m., an Illinois State Police sergeant said.

The Camry's driver was ejected from the car in the crash, and he was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with serious injuries, police said. His age was not immediately known.

The male driver of one of the semis also suffered minor injuries, police said.

All southbound lanes were shut down for more than five hours after the crash, but they had been reopened as of 4:30 a.m., police said.
