DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

ATLANTA (AP) - A former DeKalb County commissioner has pleaded guilty to federal charges against her.

Federal prosecutors say Elaine Boyer funneled county money to a personal account by billing the county for the services of an adviser who did no work for the county. Prosecutors say she also used a county charge card to make personal purchases. Prosecutors say she stole a total of about $90,000.

Boyer entered the guilty plea after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. They said she has been cooperating with their broader investigation into DeKalb County government.

Each of the two counts against her carries a possible maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Boyer is set to be sentenced Dec. 3.

She resigned from the commission last week.
