ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Orlando police say a teenager was able to scare off a an intruder inside his Lake Nona home with the use of a Taser.

Rammy Bashir says someone broke into his home off of Goldenrod Road through the sliding glass door around 12:30 a.m. Monday.  His 17-year-old brother, Bashar, was all alone at the time.

Rammy was out with friends when he received a call from his brother saying, "'I hear someone walking around'  I was like, 'Just stay there! Don't make no sound!"

According to a police report, the burglar went upstairs and began opening the teenager's bedroom door. That's when the Lake Nona High student  grabbed a weapon.

"I asked, 'Who it is?' and turned on the Taser,"  Bashar explained.

"The sound of the Taser, I think, scared the burglar off, and he just ran away," says Rammy.

Bashar says he never saw the intruder, who was on the other side of the door when he activated his Taser.

Rammy is relieved his younger brother wasn't injured.

"Just some stuff moved around. Like he was searching for something."

Bashar says he had borrowed the Taser from a friend, but now plans to buy it.  Meanwhile, Rammy is taking other precautions.

"I'm putting in a security system now. I just called today. We gotta be careful. He's not staying alone no more."

Rammy says police took finger prints off the sliding glass door. Anyone with information on the burglary should call the Orlando Police Department.
