Student sues Monroe schools for sexual harassment, bullying by teacher

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, Mich. (WJBK) - A lawsuit from a Monroe honor student alleges sexual harassment, retaliation and bullying from a teacher and says the school district did nothing about it.

The student, Brianna Linkfield, says she saw band teacher Brian Sullivan, 32, duct tape a student to a chair and reported it.

After Sullivan returned from suspension, the lawsuit claims she was targeted by the teacher.

Feeling threatened and trapped, she said he is known for being allegedly violent by throwing chairs around the room and sexually harassed her and other female students.

Sullivan told Fox 2 that he denies the allegations and can't comment further.

Monroe Jefferson issued a statement that said the district has referred the matter to legal counsel and will "vigorously defend its position. Since this is a matter of litigation we cannot provide further information at this time."
