Family's home hit hard by storms for second time

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -  Ericka Page was late getting home from work Tuesday because of the strong storms.

When she turned onto her street on Detroit's west side, she saw a tree limb that broke off the tree in her front yard with part of it landing on her house.

"I hit the corner and i like shook my head - like - what is that?

Just two weeks ago her house flooded in the last storm and ruining what was in the basement...

"I don't want the mold and mildew and everything to set in," she said. "Because I know that it's also unhealthy so bleach and water everyday."

For Page it has been one thing after another. While cleaning up her basement after the first flood, she ended up with a gas leak when she found out she cracked her line to the dryer.

Page is now hanging clothes around her house to dry, she can't afford to get this fixed.

"I don't have anymore money so it will have to wait..."
Insurance will only cover the little bit that's on her home and she's trying to get her three children outfitted with supplies for back to school.

This just another added expense she couldn't have planned for, but she's trying to stay positive

"There's a lesson in everything, even through storms, literally," she said. "We'll bounce back I know everything will be alright."
"I could use some help but I know we'll make it through."

Part of the tree is blocking the street in front of her home. Page is hoping someone can help clear it away.

Hopefully, before next week because there is a school across the street.
