Police Issue Arrest Warrant For Suspect In Shooting That Left Victim Paralyzed

Posted: Updated:
WEST PHILADELPHIA-Philadelphia police say they have issued an arrest warrant for Allan Stokes, 23, of the 5700 block of Harmer Street in Philadelphia.

Police say Stokes is allegedly the gunman caught on tape gunning down 49-year-old Edward Lynn outside a West Philly deli.

According to authorities, Stokes is being charged with attempted murder and other related charges.

Lynn's wife Michelle and mom spoke with FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser on Wednesday.

"Just help catch whoever did this to my son," said the victim's mother, Colby McQueen.

Michelle Lynn, a Philadelphia police dispatcher, walked out of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon, still shaken over a shooting that has left her husband Edward in critical condition.

“He's strong, he's a fighter, he's strong. He's doing the best he can right now,” she said.

Surveillance cameras were rolling just after 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon when three men exited the popular A&A Market & Deli in West Philadelphia. Police say the men approached Edward and words were exchanged. According to authorities, one suspect threw a punch and then opened fire with a 9 mm handgun.

“They just targeted him, just gunned him down for no reason. Just a random act of violence in the city,” said Michelle.

The gunman fired 9 shots from an extended magazine on the gun. When the barrage of gunfire ended, the 49-year -old victim had been shot 6 times. Police say the motive for the shooting was that the victim bumped into the suspect in the store.

“To pull out a gun and shoot someone over an argument is just completely senseless,” said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Standford.

As the three men ran off down Farson Street. Officers arrived and raced Edward to HUP in a cop car, which helped save his life.

“He has no movement in his lower extremities," said Michelle.

Michelle wants anyone who can identify the gunman to take a good look at the video and come forward.

“This is somebody's husband, somebody's father, somebody's son," said Michelle.
